Zero Trust
Zero Trust explained: Security model without implicit trust – principles, building blocks and implementation in Microsoft environments.
IT Glossary
In brief
Zero Trust is a security model that trusts no access based solely on its location. The traditional approach "inside the corporate network is safe" is no longer viable when employees work remotely and applications run in the cloud.
The basic principles are: explicitly verify every request (identity, device, location, risk), grant only the minimum necessary privileges, and assume a breach in an emergency, i.e. provide for segmentation, logging and rapid containment.
In Microsoft environments, this consists of identity protection with multi-factor authentication and Conditional Access, device management via Intune, data classification and continuous monitoring. How this is set up in combination is shown in IT Security.
