What does the BAFA funding programme include?
BAFA (Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control) funds consultancy services that help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improve their economic performance.
The following IT consultancy services are eligible for funding:
Digitisation strategies: Consultancy on digital business models, digitisation of business processes, consultancy on the use of new technologies (e.g. cloud solutions, artificial intelligence).
IT security: Consultancy on the implementation and optimisation of IT security concepts, data protection measures and contingency plans.
Software and system selection: Consultancy on the selection and introduction of ERP, CRM or other industry-specific software solutions.
IT infrastructure: Consultancy on the optimisation of existing IT infrastructure, introduction of new hardware and network architectures.
Data management and business intelligence: Consultancy on the implementation of data management solutions, analysis and reporting tools (BI systems), data analysis and evaluation.
Cloud computing: Consultancy on the introduction and use of cloud solutions.
IT project management: Advisory support in planning IT projects.
IT compliance: Consultancy on compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in the IT sector.
Who is eligible to apply for funding from BAFA?
Eligible to apply are:
Legally independent companies
Commercial enterprises and freelance professions
Companies registered and operating, or with a branch office, in Germany
Companies with fewer than 250 employees
Companies with an annual turnover of less than EUR 50 million or an annual balance sheet total of less than EUR 43 million
Excluded are:
Clients who themselves provide consultancy or training services (e.g. management consultants, business consultants, auditors, tax advisors, lawyers, notaries, insolvency administrators)
Companies in insolvency proceedings
Companies acting as consultancy firms within the funding programme (are themselves BAFA consultants)
Companies with an ownership interest in religious communities, legal entities under public law or their municipal enterprises
Non-profit enterprises, associations, foundations
Doctors, dentists, psychotherapists, non-medical practitioners (except for consultancy on implementing or adapting a quality assurance system)
